The Brigade
Green Head is a Coastal Community in the state of Western Australia some 270km north of Perth the states capital. The township falls within the control of the Shire of Coorow and is one of three townships under the control of the shire.
Green Head has a permanent population of approximately 150 people with a floating population of around of another 150. The town is very much a holiday / tourist destination but also supports Rock Lobster Fishing and the Mining Industry with Iluka Resources operating a large mineral sands operation at Eneabba.
The role of the Green Head Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade is to perform as a Settlement Brigade (Rural / Semi Rural) with Defensive Structural and Bush Fire Capabilities. The primary role is the protection of town assets (Houses, Buildings Etc), Shire Controlled Land, Crown Land, Pastoral Properties and assist the Department of Environment and Conservation when required. The town assets are a mixture of Old and New dwellings which reflect the areas history. The surrounding vegetation being coastal heath, dense in areas.
